Dimensions of Opel Astra L
If the previous Astra was created back when Opel belonged to General Motors, then the model with the L index was born under the wing of a new owner – the PSA group (Peugeot-Citroen), which recently, together with the FCA concern (FIAT-Chrysler), formed the Stellantis concern. The new model is based on the EMP2 platform, meaning the Astra L is a cousin of the new Peugeot 308 (presented earlier this year). In terms of dimensions, the new hatchback is 4 mm longer (4374 mm), 51 mm wider (1860 mm), and 15 mm lower (1470 mm) than its predecessor, and the wheelbase has also grown – by 13 mm (to 2675 mm). The trunk volume has increased by 52 liters (to 422 l).

Exterior of Opel Astra L
In terms of appearance, the Astra has also taken a big step forward – the car is made in the new corporate style presented by Opel in 2018. Its characteristic feature is the front part called Vizor, the main element of which is a glossy black panel (instead of a radiator grille) that closely adjoins the narrowed headlights. A similar "face" was previously given to the new crossovers Crossland, Grandland and Mokka.

Interior of Opel Astra L
The interior of the Astra has become more modern and spacious. Up front, a new "Opel" cockpit Opel Pure Panel has been installed – the front panel is made in a "clean" design, with a minimum of protruding parts and a maximum of flat surfaces. In front of the driver, two displays are installed, combined into one curved block – on the left there is a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, on the right – a 10-inch multimedia screen.

Engines of Opel Astra L
The engine lineup for the new Opel has completely migrated from the Peugeot 308: this is a decent range of units with power from 110 to 225 hp. Thus, the new Astra will be offered with a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 110 and 130 hp, as well as a 1.5-liter turbodiesel with 130 hp, and two plug-in hybrid systems based on a 1.6-liter turbo engine. The latter have a power of 180 and 225 hp and are equipped with a battery with a capacity of 12.4 kWh. On electric power alone, hybrid Astras can travel up to 50 km.

Equipment of Opel Astra L
For the hatchback, in particular, LED headlights Intelli-Lux, matrix LED lights, cruise control with Stop & Go system, head-up display and 360-degree camera will be available.

When will it be possible to buy Opel Astra L
Opel will start accepting orders for the new Astra in the fall, but the first deliveries will begin only at the beginning of next year. The new model will most likely arrive in Ukraine in the spring of 2022.
