Talk about the possible return of the Maverick name has been ongoing since early 2020. It was previously assumed that this would be the name of a crossover, but it eventually received the name Bronco Sport. In addition, there were suggestions that this name would go to a new pickup truck built on the basis of the Focus.
The history of the Maverick model began in the 70s, when this name was borne by a sedan model. In 1993, the name passed to a compact SUV for the American market, which in 2000 became known as the Escape.
