The BMW Vision M Next concept car was presented to the public in the middle of last year and was positioned as a prototype for the future generation of the i8 model, as well as a successor to the iconic BMW M1 supercar produced in the 80s.

According to BMW Blog, citing informed sources, the management of the Bavarian brand has decided to abandon the project of a new sports car, not wanting to take risks. Analysts believe that the costs of creating such a car are unlikely to pay off, especially given the difficult economic situation in the world. Moreover, there is currently no need for a flagship sports car, since the BMW M8 model can fully fulfill this role.

However, experts admit that the German automaker may return to this ambitious project, but only if financial performance improves significantly.
