The powertrain of the Ceed SW PHEV and XCeed PHEV includes a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, a 44.5-kilowatt electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 8.9 kWh, located behind the rear seats next to the 37-liter fuel tank. In total, the units develop 141 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The transmission is a six-speed robotized gearbox with two clutches.

The Kia Ceed SW PHEV station wagon can accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 10.8 seconds, while the XCeed PHEV crossover does it in 11 seconds. Both cars can travel up to 60 kilometers on electric power alone.

To reduce energy consumption, a special "Driver only" mode has been introduced, which when activated makes the heating, ventilation, and cooling systems focus only on the person behind the wheel.

The station wagon and crossover come standard with an infotainment system featuring an eight-inch touchscreen display, while an optional multimedia system with a 10.25-inch monitor and navigation, as well as a fully digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch diagonal, is available.

European sales of the cars will start in early 2020.
