Audi has introduced a diesel version of the SQ5 with a three-liter V6 engine that operates on the principle of a mild hybrid system. The power unit features turbocharging and an additional electrically driven compressor, powered by a 48-volt network and lithium-ion batteries located under the car's floor.
The electric supercharger compensates for turbo lag at low engine speeds. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic. The all-wheel-drive system can distribute up to 70% of torque to the front wheels and up to 85% to the rear.
The diesel produces 347 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters. Acceleration to one hundred kilometers per hour takes 5.1 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds less than the gasoline version. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
The base trim includes adaptive dampers and 20-inch wheels. Optionally, you can order air suspension and 21-inch wheels.
Order books for the diesel Audi SQ5 in Europe open in spring. In Germany, prices for this "hot" crossover will start from 67,750 euros.
