The head of the Italian brand, Louis Camilleri, told Automotive News about the company's plans.
The new hybrid will be based on a powertrain combining a V8 engine and an electric motor. The total power of this system will be higher than that of the 488 Pista supercar, which is equipped with a 3.9-liter turbocharged "eight" producing 720 horsepower and 770 N·m of torque.
The addition of an electric motor will not only improve dynamics but also increase fuel efficiency and reduce harmful emissions.
In addition, the hybrid with eight cylinders promises to be significantly more profitable for the company than more expensive V12 models, such as the 812 Superfast.
This will be the second hybrid car in Ferrari's history. The first to occupy this niche was the LaFerrari model, which debuted in 2013.
