In the press release, the new product is described as a car “with a sedan body and the character of a Golf GTI”. From the famous hot hatch, the four-door model inherited a radiator grille with honeycomb cells resembling bee combs, and darkened headlights.
The Jetta GLI version will feature an independent multi-link rear suspension, reinforced brake mechanisms, and unique alloy wheels.
Under the hood, there will be a two-liter turbocharged engine producing 220 horsepower and a torque of 350 N·m. It will be paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed robotic transmission with two clutches.
