The Japanese manufacturer's plans were revealed by the brand's chief designer Alfonso Albaisa in an interview with Autocar.
According to Albaisa, the future Juke will be very different from the current version. The new model will also not repeat the look of the electric IMx concept or the latest Leaf electric car.
The second-generation crossover is expected to be built on a stretched version of the new 'V' platform, jointly developed by engineers from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. This architecture is already used on the current Renault Clio and Nissan Micra models.
Under the hood, the new model is likely to feature turbocharged petrol engines with displacements of 0.9 and 1.2 liters — the same units currently used in the Micra and Qashqai. Their output will range from 90 to 115 horsepower. Additionally, the lineup will include a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 110 horsepower.
