Instead of the previous 1.5-liter Skyactiv-D 1.5 diesel, the CX-3 crossover received an engine from the same family, but with a displacement of 1.8 liters. The output of the new engine is 116 horsepower versus 105 for the old version, while the torque remained the same — 270 Nm.

Depending on the type of transmission, the average fuel consumption of the updated diesel crossover varies between 4.31–5.26 liters per 100 km.
The manufacturer has not yet announced the timing of the appearance of the Mazda CX-3 with the new diesel engine on the European market.
