The updated Ceed not only dropped the apostrophe from its name but also gained bolder exterior features. The model is based on the new K2 platform, and the overall dimensions of the car have hardly changed, although the hatchback has become slightly wider and lower.
The interior has been transformed beyond recognition and, as the creators assure, has become noticeably more spacious. The top version features an 8-inch multimedia system display and a premium JBL audio system.

The range of powertrains has been expanded with two new gasoline turbo engines: a three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI with 120 hp and a 1.4 T-GDI with 140 hp. The 1.6 CRDi diesel engine now develops either 115 or 136 hp. They are paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

In the rich trim level, the Ceed features full LED headlights and adaptive cruise control that can keep the car in its lane.

Sales of the "third" Kia Ceed in Europe will begin closer to summer. The price of the model is still kept secret.
