Under the hood of the all-wheel-drive hatchback is a seriously upgraded five-cylinder turbo engine with a displacement of 2.5 liters, producing 400 hp (+33 hp) and 480 Nm of maximum torque, available in the range from 1700 to 5850 rpm. The engine is still paired with a 7-speed S-tronic "robot" transmission.

The improved powertrain allows the model to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, improving the predecessor's result by 0.2 seconds. The top speed is traditionally limited to 250 km/h, but for an extra charge the upper limit can be raised to 280 km/h.
