The GT concept coupe received a lively response from the audience, but to put a rear-wheel-drive model into production, a suitable architecture is needed, which the German brand does not yet have.
Opel does not intend to develop a new platform alone, so the company is now looking for possible allies. According to rumors, one of the main contenders for cooperation on the GT project is China's SAIC. At the same time, it is not excluded that an existing platform from General Motors could serve as the basis.
Be that as it may, Opel does not plan to abandon the idea: the production version of the model is promised to be shown no later than the end of 2018.
