The German automaker has announced the creation of the most powerful diesel engine for passenger cars in its history — a six-cylinder unit producing 312 horsepower. Unlike its predecessor with a V-configuration and 257 hp, the new powerplant will feature an inline cylinder arrangement.
In addition, the S-Class sedan will receive a fresh twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, based on the four-liter motor from the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car, as well as an inline six-cylinder with 407 hp, equipped with electric supercharging.
These engines will be installed on the updated version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the premiere of which is scheduled for mid-next year.
