The model was named IONIQ, and its world debut is scheduled for March 2016, when the Geneva Motor Show will take place. According to preliminary data, the new product will have several variations of the power plant. Probably, the Hyundai IONIQ will get a platform from the Kia Niro crossover, which will also debut in the spring of the new year.

In particular, a purely electric installation is provided. There is a version supplemented with an internal combustion engine, but in the maximum modification, the Koreans intend to offer customers a plug-in hybrid.

The main competitor of the new product is called the Toyota Prius. Several variants of units are explained by the fact that a car with a purely electric installation in terms of range without recharging may not suit all potential customers.
