The car's design resembles the Mirai model. The new Prius is built on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. The car will be offered with both nickel-metal hydride and lithium-ion batteries. The former are installed on entry-level versions of the model, the latter on top-end modifications.
It is expected that the average fuel consumption of the new model will be about 1.5 liters of fuel per 100 km. The hybrid system includes a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The total power of the car is 150 horsepower.
