The new generation Audi Q7 is based on the global MLB Evo platform developed by the Volkswagen Group. This architecture will also serve as the basis for other future models such as the Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg, and Bentley SUV, which will appear in 2016. The use of this platform has allowed the vehicle's weight to be reduced by 363 kg.

Detailed technical specifications have not yet been disclosed. Among the assumptions is the e-tron version, equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine and an electric motor, whose combined output will be 373 hp and 700 Nm of torque. A similar powertrain was already used in the RS5 TDI concept car. It is also expected that the engine lineup will include a regular 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel with an electric compressor. Additionally, there is talk of a 7-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox and an 8-speed automatic from ZF.

It is worth recalling that the doors of the auto show in Detroit will open to visitors on January 12.
