However, the new Yamaha YZF-R7 did not become a full-fledged replacement for the R6, as its price is noticeably lower — starting at $8,999. At the same time, the technical specifications of the Yamaha R7 turned out to be more modest.

The newcomer is inferior in power to its predecessor: the R6 had 130 horsepower, while here there are significantly fewer. The model is based on the platform from the naked Yamaha MT-07, and instead of the usual inline four-cylinder, a 698cc two-cylinder unit is installed, producing 73 hp and 67 Nm of torque. A quickshifter is available for an additional fee.

The appearance of the sportbike repeats the styling of the flagship Yamaha YZF-R1, although it looks more elegant. The construction is based on a steel frame with aluminum struts. The curb weight of the Yamaha R7 is 188 kg.

The new Yamaha R7 2021 is equipped with a Brembo braking system with 298 mm discs and ABS. In addition, an adjustable KYB fork at the front and an adjustable rear shock absorber are provided.
