Norwegian media have already dubbed the new duty a "Tesla tax," since it is the electric vehicles of this brand that are considered the heaviest on the market.
Owners of Model S and, especially, Model X electric cars will have to shell out a hefty sum. For the base version of the Tesla Model S, the surcharge will be 7,000 Norwegian kroner (about 900 dollars), while for the most expensive modification of the Model X electric crossover, you will have to pay 70,000 kroner (about 9,000 dollars).
The new fee will not affect electric vehicles weighing less than two tons, so those waiting for the compact Tesla Model 3 can rest easy and not rush to give up on this model.
