In accordance with Law No. 4970-VI "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Production and Use of Motor Fuels Containing Bio-components," starting from 2013, it is recommended to introduce at least 5% bioethanol into gasoline. From 2014, this requirement becomes mandatory, and starting from 2016, the share of bioethanol should increase to 7%.
The authors of the document expect that the implementation of the law will reduce Ukraine's dependence on foreign energy resources, strengthen energy security, give impetus to the development of the agro-industrial sector, create additional jobs, increase budget revenues, and have a positive impact on the environment.
Earlier, AvtoPortal already reported on the consequences of adding bioethanol to fuel. Let us remind you: theoretically, 5% bioethanol in the mixture should not cause damage to cars. However, questions arise: will all manufacturers comply with the established standards, or will there be ways to further dilute for greater profit? It is also alarming that the list of companies allowed to produce blended fuel is formed by the Cabinet of Ministers upon the proposal of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.
