The car named Saroukh el-Jamahiriya, which translates from Arabic as “Libyan rocket,” indeed resembles a rocket in appearance. This five-seat vehicle is equipped with a six-cylinder engine producing 230 horsepower. The public unveiling of the new model took place at a conference of the Organization of African Unity.

To produce the “rocket,” a separate facility is planned to be built in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. Construction work will begin as early as next month. As Gaddafi himself explained, he took up designing the car and decided to establish its production in Libya due to the high death toll on the country's roads, where many people die annually. According to officials, this model is the most reliable and safe among all cars ever created.
