Arizona police released dashcam footage from an Uber self-driving taxi that struck and killed a pedestrian in Tempe.
The video materials demonstrate that the self-driving car, built on the basis of the Volvo XC90, lacked the ability to prevent hitting a woman who unexpectedly appeared in the vehicle's path.
Although the company's fault in the tragedy was not established, Uber still decided to temporarily suspend testing of its self-driving taxis in cities across the United States.
Toyota also took similar measures, suspending the operation of autonomous vehicles on public roads.
