Toyota has decided to temporarily suspend testing of its autonomous models on public roads in the United States.
The Japanese automaker has suspended testing of its self-driving cars on public roads in California and Michigan. The reason was a recent fatal accident involving an autonomous Uber taxi, based on the Volvo XC90, in Arizona.
The company stated that to ensure an adequate level of safety when testing unmanned technologies, a special test site is needed. Toyota will allocate five million dollars for its construction in Michigan.
