A 1959 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider Competizione retro sports car was sold at RM Sotheby's auction for $17.99 million.
The "California" put up for auction took part in the famous racing marathon "24 Hours of Le Mans", where it finished fifth overall and became a bronze medalist in its class.
The sold roadster was thoroughly restored in its time and received an authentic racing livery. Under the hood of the retro car is a 270-horsepower 3-liter V12.
The exclusive Ferrari 250 GT California Spider Competizione was produced in a very limited series, totaling only 8 units.
