The unusual GT-R was created to mark the release of a new version of the Gran Turismo Sport racing simulator, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Japanese company's participation in this game series.

Control of the Nissan GT-R/C is assigned to a PlayStation DualShock 4 gamepad, with which the car can be accelerated to a maximum of 315 km/h.

To test the unique sports car in action, the model was sent to the famous circuit at Silverstone. The "remote" was entrusted to Nismo driver Jan Mardenborough, who controlled the Nissan from the cockpit of a Robinson R44 Raven II helicopter.

To help the driver assess cornering speed, a Racelogic VBOX Motorsport sensor was installed in the helicopter cockpit, displaying readings on a computer screen.

Mardenborough completed his best lap in the GT-R/C in 1:17:47, with an average speed of 76 mph (122 km/h) and a top speed of 131 mph (211 km/h). A regular GT-R completes the 1.6-mile (2.6 km) circuit at an average speed of about 83 mph (134 km/h).

The GT-R/C is equipped with four robots controlling the steering wheel, gearbox, accelerator and brake pedals. Six computers mounted in the trunk control all driving parameters at a frequency of up to 100 times per second. The steering wheel is controlled at a frequency of 1/65000 of a second.

The model also comes with two independent safety systems operating on different radio frequencies. If the driver loses control of the car, one of them will completely shut off the engine, and the second will apply the brakes.

In 2018, the Nissan GT-R/C will go on a tour of primary and secondary schools in the UK as a visual aid for children.
