In honor of the 50th anniversary of the GT40 sports car's victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford decided to release a successor to the legend. It is worth noting that this is already the second attempt by the brand to create a unique and perfect (according to the creators) sports car.
Before us is a concept that, nevertheless, may see the assembly line as early as late 2015-early 2016. According to preliminary data, the production model will differ little from the prototype presented in Detroit.
Under the hood of the show GT is a V6 3.5 EcoBoost with twin turbocharging producing 608 hp. The car is mid-engined, with a 7-speed robotic gearbox. As Ford assures, the new model has one of the best power-to-weight ratios for production cars.
Among the competitors of the Ford GT 2016 are the McLaren 650S and Ferrari 458. By the way, Ford is silent, but it is quite possible that the new supercar will compete for a place in the sun at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year.
