The premiere of the thirteenth-generation F-150 pickup is scheduled for this week at the Detroit Auto Show, but key details about the model have already been revealed. The main change is that the use of modern technologies and aluminum has made it possible to reduce the vehicle's weight by about 320 kg.

Earlier, there was information about an aluminum frame, but it was not confirmed: the frame remained steel, although it became stronger and lighter. Aluminum is used in the body panels. As a result, the curb weight of the F-150 with a 3.5-liter engine is 2,300 kg.

The full list of powertrains has not yet been disclosed, but it is already known that the lineup will include a 2.7-liter turbocharged gasoline V6 EcoBoost with direct injection. This engine will replace the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter unit.

The base version will be equipped with a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6, and another new addition will be a turbocharged 5-liter V8. The new F-150 should also improve dynamic performance thanks to a new 9-speed automatic transmission developed jointly by Ford and General Motors.

The list of options for the new model will include LED lighting, surround-view cameras, a color 8-inch screen on the dashboard, and other solutions typical of premium passenger cars. For those who prefer outdoor activities, a standard loading and unloading system for special equipment is provided.

It includes a winch, a cargo ramp, an organizer for securing loads, reinforced hinges, and a number of other useful devices. The model will be available in five trim levels, with sales starting at the end of this year.
