Yes, in 2020 the Toyota group, which includes, among others, Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors, sold 9.5 million vehicles, which is 11.3% less than a year earlier. At the same time, the Volkswagen Group sold 9.3 million cars in 2020, which is 15.2% less compared to 2019 figures.
Toyota noted that the largest sales decline occurred in the US market – there, 2.1 million cars were sold over the past year. The hardest months were the first four months of the year, when the coronavirus was at its peak. But already from May the market began to recover, and from September it reached and then even exceeded last year's level, thanks to which the manufacturer did not go into a deep minus.
At the same time, Toyota's sales in China jumped by 11% - there, over the specified period, the Japanese sold 1.8 million cars.
As for production, in 2020 Toyota produced a total of 9.2 million cars, which is 14.1% less than in 2019.
