The construction of the new plant, known as the Gigafactory, cost approximately 2 billion dollars. It is expected that this enterprise will be able to produce up to 250 thousand electric vehicles annually.
At the initial stage, production will be limited to two models — Tesla Model 3 and the new Tesla Model Y crossovers. The first finished cars are expected to appear on the assembly line by the end of the current year. Thanks to this plant, the Tesla company will have the opportunity to sell its cars on the Chinese market, avoiding a 25 percent duty.
