If we compare in monetary terms, the growth was about 65% compared to the same period in 2015. Experts explain this trend by the fact that in times of crisis, Ukrainians still prefer to buy more expensive cars. In particular, if we consider exclusively premium brands, their sales in monetary terms increased by as much as 112%.
According to AUTO-Consulting data, in total for the first six months of the current year, new cars were sold for 667 million euros, which is equivalent to almost 20 billion hryvnias. If we analyze segments, Ukrainians with their wallets confirmed the global trend of growing popularity of SUVs. During the first six months, crossovers and SUVs were sold 61% more than in the same period a year earlier.
Interestingly, the largest number of expensive cars was purchased not by residents of the capital, but by Odessa residents. However, if we talk about the total amount spent on new cars, Kyiv holds the lead with 224 million euros. The second place in the ranking by the volume of funds spent on cars went to the Kharkiv region – local drivers left more than 62 million euros in car dealerships. The third place is occupied by the Dnipropetrovsk region, where the amount was 50.5 million euros.
