In this case, we are not talking about Volkswagen models, but about cars of the Audi and Porsche brands. As Associated Press reports, special software was found on cars with three-liter diesel engines: Porsche Cayenne 2015, Audi A6, A7 Quattro, A8 and Q5 2006, as well as on VW Touareg 2014.
Recall that earlier the American authorities spoke only about cars with engines of 1.6, 1.2 and 2 liters. If Volkswagen and its subsidiary brands are confirmed guilty of deception, then the already imposed fine of $18 billion may be increased by another $375 million.
“Volkswagen has once again failed to fulfill its obligations to comply with the law that protects air quality for all Americans,” said Cynthia Giles, assistant administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Recall, as AvtoPortal wrote earlier, “dieselgate” led to a drop in Volkswagen's profits.
