British TV presenter and journalist Richard Hammond, who became famous thanks to the Top Gear program, shared his personal ranking of the best American cars in history in an interview with GQ magazine. Notably, the iconic sports car Chevrolet Corvette appears in his list twice.
1969 Dodge Charger
Hammond did not rank the cars, but simply announced his top ten. Among the most beautiful cars ever created in the USA, the Birmingham native singled out the open two-seater Chevrolet Corvette from 1953.
Naturally, muscle cars were not left out: the list included the two-door 1955 Chrysler C-300 with a Hemi V8 engine, the 1969 Dodge Charger, and the Ford Mustang 390 GT.
Interestingly, the ranking also included the Striker fire truck and the AMC Pacer hatchback. The presenter allocated one spot to a pickup truck, without specifying a particular model, only noting that it could be a Dodge Ram or some Ford or Chevrolet from the 1950s.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Among modern models, Hammond noted the Jeep Wrangler, the Fisker Karma hybrid, and, of course, the impressive 646-horsepower Corvette ZR1.
