The Mazda 6 debuted in 2002, replacing the 626 model. The car is built on a shared platform with the Ford Mondeo. This model was the first in the company's history to receive a new corporate name consisting of a single digit. In the Japanese market, it is sold under the name Atenza. The 'Six' is offered in three body styles: sedan, hatchback, and station wagon. For the first generation, a hot version MPS was produced based on the sedan, but this modification was discontinued in the second generation.
