Bentley Mulsanne: prices and specifications

2 generations Country of origin: United Kingdom

Bentley Mulsanne is the flagship sedan of the British brand, which replaced the T2 model. The car's name refers to the "Mulsanne Straight" on the "24 Hours of Le Mans" circuit: it was on this section that racing Bentleys from 1924 to 1930 reached maximum speed and achieved five consecutive victories.

First generation (1978–1992)

The development of the sedan took two years — from 1978 to 1980. The exterior largely repeated the appearance of its predecessor: in those years, premium cars were distinguished by conservative design. The luxury of the exterior was complemented by high-class interior trim, designed for four people, including the driver. The Mulsanne was built on the Rolls-Royce Spirit platform, and the powertrain and gearbox were also borrowed from the "donor." The world premiere took place in 1980, and sales began at the same time. In 1982, the Mulsanne Turbo version was released — with a turbocharged engine based on the standard motor; it was produced until 1985. In 1987, the "charged" modification Mulsanne S appeared in two variants: with standard and extended wheelbase. In 1992, production of the model was discontinued — its place on the assembly line was taken by the Bentley Brooklands.

Revival (2009)

The new Bentley Mulsanne debuted in 2009 and replaced the Arnage model in the lineup. The design of the revived flagship was developed by Belgian Dirk van Braeckel. Currently, the car is produced only as a sedan, although the company planned to create coupe and convertible versions that would replace the Brooklands and Azure based on the Arnage.

In Ukraine, the Mulsanne has been sold since 2010. The sedan is equipped with a 6.7-liter gasoline engine with two turbochargers, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Drive — rear.
