Bentley Continental GT: prices and specifications

8 generations Country of origin: United Kingdom

Bentley Continental GT is a family of premium supercars from the British brand, which replaced two previous models: Continental R and Continental T. The name consists of two words: Continental, meaning "continental", and the abbreviation GT, denoting the Grand Tourer body type.

The first model in the lineup was the two-door GT coupe, first shown to the public in 2003. The design was developed by Belgian specialist Dirk van Braeckel. Its style and technical characteristics attracted buyers: in the first year of sales, 5,983 units were sold, exceeding the planned volume by 62%. In 2005, at the Geneva Motor Show, Bentley introduced the Flying Spur sedan. This version shares exterior and interior features as well as technical equipment with the coupe. The main external difference is the plastic radiator grille, used for pedestrian safety in collisions. The same year saw the debut of the GTC convertible, which replicated the coupe in design and "filling." It received a seven-layer folding fabric roof, allowing the car to be used even in bad weather.

In 2009, Bentley released "charged" Speed versions in coupe, convertible, and sedan body styles. At the same time, a limited series of Continental Supersports was introduced for all modifications — the most powerful and fastest in the brand's history.

The second generation of the family was shown in 2011. Updated coupe and convertible went on sale, while the sedan continued to be produced in the first generation.

In Ukraine, the Bentley Continental GT is available in three body variants: Flying Spur sedan, GT coupe, and GTC convertible. The first two modifications are equipped with a 6.0-liter W12 gasoline engine. The convertible, in addition to this engine, can be fitted with a 4.0-liter V8, developed jointly with Audi engineers — it has a system that deactivates four of the eight cylinders. Both engines work with a six- or eight-speed automatic transmission. Drive is all-wheel drive.
