Citroen C4
The petrol version of the French hatchback is equipped with a compact PureTech turbo engine, which has been a two-time winner of the prestigious "Engine of the Year" competition. Despite a displacement of only 1.2 liters, the power unit produces 130 hp and 230 Nm of torque, available already at 1750 rpm.
In Ukraine, the C4 with the PureTech engine is offered only with a 6-speed automatic, but the "two-pedal" modification is still quite economical and allows a consumption of just over 6 liters per 100 km in the city.
The price of the Citroen C4 PureTech starts from 517,400 UAH for the Shine trim, which includes all the necessary minimum equipment (air conditioning, heated seats, leather steering wheel, cruise control, etc.).
Ford Focus
The Focus can also offer Ukrainian motorists an economical modification with a small turbo engine. The no less titled EcoBoost engine series has an even more modest displacement of just 1 liter, but its power is 125 hp, and the maximum torque is 270 Nm at 1400 rpm.
Only the version with a six-speed manual transmission fits our specified economy parameters, with which the EcoBoost consumes less than 6 liters per hundred (with automatic - 7.4 l).
The Focus EcoBoost is available exclusively in the rich Business trim, but in three body styles (hatchback, wagon, and sedan). The equipment list includes: climate control, heated windshield, alloy wheels, cruise control, and other useful functions. The promotional price of the 2016 hatchback is 453,411 UAH. For the four-door body, you will have to pay an additional 5,000 UAH, and for the wagon - 20 thousand hryvnias.
Opel Astra
The Opel Astra also has its own liter "turbo engine". The Ecotec series engine develops 105 horsepower and delivers 170 Nm of torque, available in the range of 1800-4250 rpm.
Although the performance of the power unit is slightly inferior to competitors, the "Astra" has better fuel efficiency - 5.7 l per 100 km in the urban cycle for the version with a 5-speed robotic manual.
The "liter" Astra is offered only with a "robot" and in a single Enjoy trim, which, in addition to the standard set, includes such a rare but very pleasant function as a heated steering wheel. At a price of 531,468 UAH, this version of the "Astra" barely fit into our price limit.
Skoda Octavia
The popular Czech model recently entered the Ukrainian market with an updated appearance, but pre-restyling "Octavias" can still be bought, and at reduced prices.
The most dynamic version among competitors fits our specified parameters: a 150-horsepower 1.4-liter TSI engine with a torque of 250 Nm. Working in tandem with a 6-speed manual, the turbo engine consumes 6.5 liters per 100 km in the city.
Given the discounts on the discontinued model, the Octavia TSI hatchback in the base Active trim will cost 461,616 UAH, and the wagon at least 500,637 UAH. For an additional 10.5 thousand, you can add the Street package with fog lights, an onboard computer, and remote central locking.
Seat Leon
Like the Octavia, the Leon recently underwent a light facelift, but the updated models have not yet arrived in Ukraine.
The most economical petrol version of the "Leon" is equipped with a 1.2-liter TSI turbo engine, which produces 110 hp and 170 Nm of maximum torque. The city consumption of this modification with a 5-speed manual is about 6.5 liters per 100 km.
The base price of the Spanish hatchback with the TSI engine slightly exceeds our set limit and starts from 558,179 hryvnias, but due to the imminent arrival of the restyled version on our market, the price may be slightly reduced.
