Renault Symbol is a sedan first introduced in 1999 based on the Clio hatchback. Initially, the model was called Clio Symbol, but after the 2002 update, the "Clio" prefix was removed from the name. This budget sedan was created specifically for "developing countries," where three-box body cars are in high demand. In some markets, the model is known as Thalia. The second generation Symbol appeared in 2008.
