Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is an SUV with a coupe body style produced by Mercedes-Benz.
The model was first announced on April 20, 2014 at the Beijing Auto Show as a concept called the Concept Coupé SUV. The company released official photos of the car on December 9, 2014. The production version debuted in January 2015 at the Detroit Auto Show.
Initially, the model was planned to be called Mercedes-Benz MLC, as it is built on the platform and component base of the ML. However, after the renaming of the entire SUV lineup, it received the name GLE Coupe.
The car features increased front and rear track width, a unique body with a lower roofline and more steeply raked front pillars. The base version comes with a conventional coil spring suspension, with optional Airmatic air suspension with ADS Plus system.
The engine lineup includes: GLE 350d — V6 3.0 L CDI (258 hp), GLE 400 — V6 3.0 L (333 hp), GLE 450 AMG Sport — V8 4.7 L (367 hp). A 400-horsepower hybrid version was also expected, as well as modifications GLE 63 AMG (V8, 585 hp, 900 Nm) and GLE 65 AMG (V12, about 630 hp).
Sales started at the end of 2015.
