The two-door CL-Class coupe, whose name stands for Coupe Leicht ("lightweight coupe"), was built on the platform of the flagship S-Class sedan. Initially, the model was called SEC, later S Coupe, and received its current designation only in 1996. At the time of writing, the third generation was in production, debuting in 2006. Four years later, a facelift was carried out, affecting the exterior, interior, and powertrains.
The car is equipped with gasoline V8 and V12 engines with a displacement of 5.5 liters, which are paired with a five- or seven-speed automatic transmission. Drive — rear.
