ESP (ESC, DSC, VSC, VSA, electronic stability control system) (Stability control system)

ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is an active safety system that helps maintain vehicle stability on the road. It works in conjunction with ABS and EBD and is also known by the abbreviations ESC, DSC, VSC, or VSA. The system activates when there is a risk of understeer or oversteer, and the driver may lose control of the car. Using information from sensors — wheel speed, brake pressure, steering wheel position, angular velocity, and lateral acceleration — it calculates within 20 milliseconds which wheels should be braked and how much to reduce engine power to restore stability to the vehicle. It is important to consider that the system's capabilities are not unlimited, and it cannot override the laws of physics.
