ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) (Anti-lock braking system)
ABS (anti-lock braking system) is an active safety element of a car. Its task is to prevent the wheels from locking completely during emergency braking, which would otherwise threaten loss of control and skidding. Thanks to this system, the car maintains its intended trajectory, and the driver maintains control over the situation. The fact that ABS has activated can be understood by the pulsation of the brake pedal during sharp deceleration — at this moment, you should not ease off the pressure, but rather press the pedal even harder.
The system's design includes sensors on each wheel that monitor their rotation speed, an electronic control unit that processes the received data, and a modulator responsible for cyclically changing the pressure in the brake circuits.
