Fiat Sedici is a passenger car with enhanced cross-country capability. The model name translates from Italian as "sixteen" (a reference to the 4×4 wheel formula, which totals 16).
The car premiered in 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show. The model was developed jointly with the Japanese company Suzuki, which produces an almost identical version under the name SX4. The design was created with the participation of the Giorgetto Giugiaro studio "Italdesign". Production of the Fiat Sedici was established in Hungary.
This model marked the return of the Italian brand to the SUV segment, albeit in the compact crossover class. The car's concept is "4x4 4 ALL" (all-wheel drive for everyone), with which Fiat entered the all-wheel drive market, offering the comfort and safety typical of such a drive type. At the same time, both Fiat and Suzuki are available in both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive versions. Affordable price, compact dimensions, and wide capabilities make the Sedici an alternative to both golf-class cars and urban crossovers.
In the summer of 2009, the model underwent a facelift, along with which the list of available engines changed.
On the Ukrainian market, the FIAT Sedici is officially supplied only with a 1.6-liter petrol engine (107 hp, 16 valves). The 2.0-liter Multijet diesel with 135 hp is not officially imported to Ukraine. Engines are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic.
The model features a new all-wheel drive system with a central differential that operates in three modes: front-wheel drive only, automatic mode, and fixed Lock mode. The driver can manually disengage all-wheel drive to reduce fuel consumption.
The car's drive is front or all-wheel drive.
