BYD Qin: prices and specifications

1 generations Country of origin: China

The BYD Qin hybrid sedan got its name from the oldest Chinese imperial dynasty, Qin. This model replaced the F3 DM, the world's first mass-produced hybrid car, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008 but was not in demand: just over 1,000 units were sold in three years, and BYD discontinued it. Development of a successor, more advanced and striking in terms of design and technology, began in 2011, and by 2012 the first prototypes were already being tested on Chinese roads.

The BYD Qin concept was officially unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in 2012. The car is built on a completely new BYD-i platform. Instead of the 16 kWh batteries used in the F3 DM, the Qin is equipped with less capacious and lighter iron-phosphate batteries of 10 kWh. The manufacturer claims that these new-generation batteries are non-toxic, rated for 4,000 charge cycles, and 7% more efficient than those of its predecessor. For the first time in this model, a dual-mode system (electric and hybrid modes) is used, which surpasses the first-generation F3DM in efficiency, power, and energy saving. The reduction in battery capacity reduced the all-electric range to about 50 km (the F3DM had 97 km). Thanks to an increased wheelbase and interior dimensions, the Qin's cabin has become more spacious. Innovations include intelligent communication and remote control systems.

The BYD Qin sedan was brought to Ukraine in the spring of 2013. The car is equipped with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor. It works in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission. Drive is front-wheel.
