Yes, the first navigation system in a car (albeit primitive) can be considered the electromechanical device Iter Avto. It was introduced back in 1932 and was a map on a paper tape mounted on the dashboard. The essence is simple – the tape was rewound from one roll to another (depending on speed, which, of course, was read from the speedometer). Today, of course, navigation in cars is configured quite differently and hardly requires explanation, since even in inexpensive models (or on AliExpress) multimedia with navigation is considered as common an attribute as ketchup with spaghetti.
Another popular monitoring system nowadays is blind spot monitoring. It is relatively new and appeared in the early 2000s, though not in the form we are used to perceiving it now. The pioneer in this direction was the Swedish brand Volvo, which was the first to develop the BLIS system – 20 years ago it was a set of cameras in the mirrors that monitored the "dead" zones. But their viewing angle, error, and susceptibility to contamination led to the emergence of a more advanced alternative. Current blind spot monitoring systems work "like bats" – they use ultrasonic or radar sensors on the side and rear of the car to detect objects around them.
The preventive braking system. It combines a whole set of other auxiliary electronic assistants and uses radar to detect an obstacle and a computer to assess the probability of a collision, depending on speed, engine RPM, etc. First, the automatic braking system warns the driver, and in case of inaction, emergency braking is initiated. Depending on the complexity of the system, brand, and class of the car, such a system can work both at low and high speeds.

Among the most "advanced" and effective tracking systems, perhaps, is the vehicle monitoring system. Car sharing, taxi, freight transportation, etc. – this system allows you to control any vehicle. And given total automation, the need for it is becoming more acute.
