Nissan remains the sales leader, with its Leaf model selling almost 200 thousand units worldwide. The second place is consistently held by the Chevrolet Volt, but such Chevrolets are found on public roads twice as rarely — about 100 thousand cars. The top three is rounded out by the Tesla Model S with a result of 85 thousand sold cars. The fourth position is occupied by the Toyota PHV (74 thousand), and the top five is closed by the Mitsubishi Outlander PHV, sold in the amount of 70 thousand units.

The largest number of electric vehicles is registered in the United States — 363,265 units. China is second in this indicator, with 157,354 such cars, and Japan takes third place with 121,000 electric vehicles. Among European countries, Norway leads — 65,958 units. In the Netherlands and France, this figure is 61,025 and 59,000 units, respectively.
