Many people do exactly that. But not everyone knows that part of the costs for converting a car to LPG can be reimbursed... by the state!

Yes, such an opportunity exists, and it is provided for by law. In accordance with clause 166.3.7 of paragraph 166.3 of Article 166 of the Tax Code of Ukraine dated December 2, 2010 No. 2755-VI with amendments and additions, a taxpayer (individual) has the right to a tax rebate for converting their car to one of the types of biofuels, including bioethanol, biodiesel, compressed or liquefied gas.

Such a rebate is provided directly after the installation of LPG equipment. To get it, in simple non-legal terms, you need to provide the tax office with payment and settlement documents confirming the costs of the conversion (receipts, fiscal or merchandise checks, cash receipt orders, copies of contracts that identify the seller of goods (works, services) and their buyer (recipient).

These documents must necessarily reflect the price of such goods, works, or services, as well as the date of their sale, performance, or provision. This is stated in clause 166.2.1 of paragraph 166.2 of Article 166 of the TCU.

But, to be honest, a large number of workshops in Ukraine that install LPG equipment provide such services "underground," that is, they do not issue payment documents. Therefore, if you want to compensate for the costs, look for installers who can issue a settlement receipt.

After converting the car, according to the "Procedure for the conversion of vehicles," approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated July 21, 2010 No. 607, it is necessary to conduct an assessment of its compliance with the requirements of general rules, regulations, and standards of Ukraine. Upon completion of the assessment, a certificate of such compliance is issued.

Thus, in order to count on a tax rebate for installing LPG equipment on your car, you need to have two main documents on hand – a receipt for payment for auto service services and an act of technical expertise for converted vehicles. Then you can go to the tax inspectorate to apply for the rebate, taking with you a tax declaration on property status and income, a document with a list of costs included in the tax rebate, originals and copies of your passport and vehicle registration certificate with a mark on the installation of LPG equipment, an acceptance certificate for the LPG equipment, and a payment (settlement) document for payment. Also, the list of documents should include an application for a refund of the loan, but it is better to write it at the tax office according to the template. True, it should be noted that nowadays installing LPG equipment in Ukraine can become problematic and expensive.
