Renault Trafic: prices and specifications

2 generations Country of origin: France

Renault Trafic is a light commercial vehicle in a minivan body. It emerged from the collaboration of three brands: Renault, Nissan, and Opel. The model name translates from French as "transport, trade," which immediately indicates its purpose.

The first generation of the minivan was developed by the French independently. It replaced the outdated Renault Estafette. Serial production of the Renault Trafic started in 1981. Throughout its production, the vehicle received only minor cosmetic updates to the exterior and interior. However, the technical part was updated quite often. In 1990, the model underwent a major facelift. In 1997, Renault entered into a strategic agreement with General Motors: the minivan began to be produced for the European and North American markets under the American corporation's brands. Thus, the Chevrolet Trafic, Opel Arena, and Vauxhall Arena appeared.

The second generation of the model was introduced in 2001. In addition to General Motors, the Japanese company Nissan joined the project. Thanks to this, the French were able to produce the minivan for the Asian market, where it is known as the Nissan Primastar. The passenger version was assembled in the UK, while cargo-passenger modifications were assembled in Spain.

The Renault Trafic entered the Ukrainian market in 2003. The vehicle is supplied to Ukraine only in passenger configuration — for five or nine seats. It is equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Drive — front.
