We took the updated Nissan X-Trail for a drive to assess the changes and check the fuel consumption of the all-wheel-drive e-4orce version.

The Nissan X-Trail's exterior has changed in the details

The main update is a wider grille with less chrome. The lighting has a darkened finish, the bumper and decorative air deflectors have changed. The radar for the safety systems has been moved from the Nissan logo to lower down.

The main exterior changes:

  • a wider grille, darkened lighting and new bumpers;

  • LED rear turn signals;

  • 19-inch wheels for most versions and 20-inch for the Tekna+.

At the rear, the shape of the lights remains familiar, while the lower part of the bumper is now fully painted in the body color.

Nissan X-Trail interior: changes without a revolution

A new steering wheel has appeared in front of the driver. There are fewer silver details, while black gloss has been added instead. The pattern of the wood-effect decorative insert has changed.

The materials remain high-quality: the top of the dashboard is soft, and some surfaces are upholstered in leatherette. Hard plastic is mostly located lower down.

The Tekna+ offers a brown leather interior, but there is no front seat ventilation even in the top version.

Nissan has retained the physical climate control unit. Temperature and fan intensity can be adjusted without using the touchscreen.

New cameras and Android multimedia

The multimedia system now runs on Android. The interface has barely changed, but the system responds faster.

The surround-view cameras have received new modes. You can display the image near the front-left wheel or activate the "transparent hood" to see the space between the front wheels.

The cameras can also be set to turn on automatically at a saved point, for example when entering a narrow courtyard. Driver attention monitoring now works via a camera.

The Nissan X-Trail is now e-Power only

The version with a 1.5-liter turbo engine and mild hybrid has been removed from the Ukrainian lineup. All 2026 model year Nissan X-Trail vehicles are equipped with e-Power.

In this system, the 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine has no mechanical connection to the wheels. It generates electricity, while electric motors drive the car.

Nissan X-Trail 6.jpg

The front-wheel-drive Nissan X-Trail has 204 hp, accelerates to 100 km/h in about 8 seconds and reaches 170 km/h.

The all-wheel-drive e-4orce has two electric motors, 213 hp and up to 525 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes about 7 seconds, and the top speed is 180 km/h.

How the Nissan X-Trail e-Power drives

The advantage of e-Power is felt immediately. The X-Trail responds to the accelerator almost like an electric car: there are no delays for gear shifts, and torque is available immediately.

This is especially noticeable in the city during lane changes and short accelerations.

The gasoline engine is well insulated from the cabin. There is double front glazing, additional sound insulation and active noise cancellation. Even at high rpm, the internal combustion engine does not become too loud.

In Sport mode, the response to the accelerator is sharper, but the character of the Nissan X-Trail remains comfortable.

The suspension is good, but 19-inch wheels are better

The chassis was not significantly changed. MacPherson is installed at the front, and an independent multi-link suspension at the rear. Some of its components are made of aluminum.

On good asphalt, the Nissan X-Trail is comfortable and predictable. It holds its trajectory precisely, body roll is moderate, and the suspension works quietly.

On large bumps, the 20-inch wheels of the Tekna+ worsen comfort. They make the responses a little sharper, but for Ukrainian roads, 19-inch wheels look like the more practical choice.

Real fuel consumption of the Nissan X-Trail e-Power

During the trip, the onboard computer of the all-wheel-drive Nissan X-Trail e-4orce showed 6.8-6.9 l/100 km without any special effort to save fuel.

According to a dealer representative, the front-wheel-drive version on the highway can consume about 5 l/100 km. All-wheel drive under similar conditions adds about up to 1 l/100 km.

The choice between the versions is simple:

  • 2WD - 204 hp, lower consumption and sufficient dynamics;

  • e-4orce - 213 hp, two electric motors and all-wheel drive;

  • the surcharge for e-4orce is about $3000.

Second row, seven seats and the trunk

The rear doors of the Nissan X-Trail open almost 90 degrees. The second row can be moved forward and backward, and the backrest angle can be adjusted.

In the higher trims, rear seat heating, a third climate control zone and sunshades are available.

For about $900, you can order a third row. It is better suited to children or short trips for adults. There are no Isofix mounts there.

The five-seat Nissan X-Trail has about 575 l of cargo space including the underfloor compartments. The floor consists of two sections that can be used as dividers.

There is no spare wheel. Under the floor are a 12-volt battery, a compressor with sealant and a subwoofer, which is also used by the active noise cancellation system.

Nissan X-Trail trims and prices

After the facelift, four trim levels remain - Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+.

Nissan X-Trail 10.jpg

The Acenta costs about UAH 1.704 million. It has 19-inch wheels, a digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch multimedia system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and safety systems. There is no seat or steering wheel heating.

The N-Connecta for UAH 1.87 million adds eco-leather, 360° cameras, three-zone climate control, a power tailgate, roof rails, tinting and a winter package.

The Tekna costs about UAH 2.06 million and gets a panoramic roof, a head-up display, matrix lighting, Bose and power seat adjustments.

The Tekna+ is priced at UAH 2.208 million, or about $49,300. It stands out with 20-inch wheels and genuine leather upholstery.

The optimal options look like this:

  • Acenta - good basic equipment, but without heating;

  • N-Connecta - the best balance of equipment and price;

  • Tekna/Tekna+ - maximum equipment and more expensive trim.

The e-4orce all-wheel drive adds about $3000 to the price.

Maintenance and warranty

The e-Power service interval has been increased from 10,000 to 15,000 km or one year. Odd-numbered services cost approximately UAH 10-11 thousand, even-numbered ones - UAH 15-16 thousand.

The warranty on the Nissan X-Trail is three years or 100,000 km. For the e-Power traction battery, inverter, generator and electric motors - five years or 100,000 km.

Autoportal conclusion

The Nissan X-Trail facelift turned out to be targeted. The crossover received a fresher exterior, faster multimedia, more functional cameras and revised trim levels.

Nissan X-Trail 11.jpg

The main advantage has remained unchanged - e-Power. The Nissan X-Trail responds quickly to the accelerator, smoothly gains speed and feels like an electric car, but does not need to be charged from a socket. During the test, the all-wheel-drive e-4orce consumed 6.8-6.9 l/100 km.

Among the drawbacks are the firmer 20-inch wheels, the lack of heating in the Acenta and the lack of seat ventilation in the Tekna+.

As a result, the Nissan X-Trail remains a comfortable family crossover with a spacious interior, an economical hybrid setup and the option to order all-wheel drive and seven seats.
