Aston Martin DBS is a flagship GT-class sports coupe that replaced the Vanquish S model, produced from 2001 to 2007. The letters DB in the name stand for David Brown, one of the former owners of the company, while the letter S indicates that this is a "charged" version of the DB9 sports car.
The name DBS first appeared in the Aston Martin lineup in 1967. At that time, the car was produced until 1972 exclusively as a coupe and became famous as James Bond's car in the film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." The design of the classic DBS was created by the renowned coachbuilder William Towns.
Aston Martin management decided to revive the model in 2005. The exterior design was developed by designer Marek Reichmann. The car was built on the VH platform, which had already been used on several models of the brand, including the DB9. Engineers managed to improve handling compared to the DB9 and reduce weight by 30 kg through the use of carbon fiber in the hood, trunk, front fenders, and side doors.
The official premiere of the new model took place in 2007 at a charity auction in Pebble Beach (USA). The model is produced in two body styles: coupe and convertible (Volante). Key design features include the adaptive ADS air suspension, which allows changing ground clearance depending on road or weather conditions.
This car continued the Bond tradition started by its predecessor in 1967: it appeared twice in James Bond films — "Casino Royale" (2006) and "Quantum of Solace" (2008).
In Ukraine, the Aston Martin flagship has been officially sold since 2011. On the local market, the DBS is available in two body versions — coupe and convertible.
Under the hood is a hand-assembled 6.0-liter gasoline V12, which works in conjunction with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. Drive — rear.
