The three-door hatchback Cygnet became Aston Martin's first attempt to enter the compact city car segment. The model combined British and Japanese solutions: some technologies were borrowed from Toyota. Unlike other rear-wheel drive Aston Martin models, the Cygnet received front-wheel drive. Under the hood is a Toyota 1NR-FE engine with a displacement of 1.3 liters. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission with a Start/Stop system or a continuously variable transmission.
