Alfa Romeo 4C: compact sports coupe

Alfa Romeo 4C is a small sports coupe from the Italian brand, marking a new chapter in the company's history. The model name continues a tradition: previously, the 8C and 6C models were known, and the "four" indicates a four-cylinder engine.

For a long time, several decades, there were no compact sports coupes in the Alfa Romeo lineup. However, in the early 1930s, it was precisely such nimble cars as the 8C and 6C that set the tone — they existed in both racing and civilian versions. In 2011, the company's management decided to revive this concept. The design of the exterior and interior was entrusted to Alfa Romeo Centro Stile under the direction of Lorenzo Ramaciotti. At the same time, the Italians relied on the experience of Lotus, in particular, their compact coupe Elise.

The prototype of the future model was ready by 2012 and debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. It weighed only 850 kg — such lightness was achieved through the use of carbon and aluminum in the body and chassis. The production version was planned to be built at the Maserati plant in Modena.

The production Alfa Romeo 4C was officially introduced in spring 2013, also in Geneva. Externally, it was almost no different from the prototype, but technically it underwent changes. Most of the carbon parts were replaced with aluminum, which led to an increase in curb weight by 50 kg — to 900 kg. Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.75-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission (TCT). Drive is rear-wheel.

Information about deliveries of the sports coupe to Ukraine was not available at the time of writing.
